According to Denver International Airport officials, the fire broke out on a plane parked at Gate C38 and sent thick black smoke rising over the tarmac.
No casualties
Airport officials said the fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported. Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration said American Airlines Flight 1006 was diverted and landed safely at Denver International Airport on Thursday evening.
There were 172 passengers on board
After safely landing at Denver International Airport (DEN) and taxiing to the gate, American Airlines Flight 1006 experienced engine-related problems. The 172 passengers and six crew members deplaned and were taken to the terminal.
“We thank our crew members, DEN team, and first responders for their quick and decisive action while prioritizing the safety of everyone on board and on the ground,” Fox31 quoted American Airlines as saying in a statement.
The plane was diverted.
The flight took off from Colorado Springs Airport and was headed to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport but was diverted to DIA. American Airlines said the aircraft used for the flight was a Boeing 737-800.
