Strict Regulations in IPL
Traveling Only in the Bus
Before the 2025 IPL season, the BCCI enforced strict SOPs for players. Some of the rules recently applied to the Indian team were extended to the 10 IPL franchises, including the rule that players must travel only in the team bus. Additionally, a rule was introduced that players' family members cannot enter the dressing rooms on match-free days. The BCCI clarified that these new guidelines were primarily aimed at enhancing discipline in the game.
No Entry for Family Members
The BCCI also announced that family members and friends of players will not be allowed to enter the dressing room during practice days in the IPL. Only recognized staff will be allowed in the dressing room during match practice sessions. Players' friends and family will have to travel in separate vehicles, and they can watch the match from the guest area outside the field.
New Conduct Rules for Players
Players participating in the IPL will now have to travel in the team bus for practice sessions. Previously, some players would attend practice sessions in their personal vehicles, but now the BCCI has made it mandatory for every player to use the team bus for practice.
In the post-match presentation ceremonies, players are prohibited from wearing sleeveless jerseys. A warning will be issued for the first violation, and from the second violation onward, financial penalties will be imposed. Additionally, if players forget their accreditation cards, they will be fined. According to the BCCI announcement, batsmen are now warned not to hit the ball onto the LED boards outside the boundary ropes. Sponsorship teams have been advised to look for alternatives to protect these boards.
