Sam’s Southern Eatery Expands with Drive-Through Innovation in East Wichita

Bringing Southern Comfort to a New Location

Wichita’s love for Southern cuisine is about to grow with the third Sam’s Southern Eatery opening soon. Emanuel Ashiedu, a dedicated software engineer from Salina and an enthusiastic restaurateur, is leading this expansion. The new spot at 6121 E. 21st St. carries a rich local history — originally a Long John Silver’s in the 1980s and later Clouds, a daiquiri lounge turned Mediterranean eatery. Now, it’s set to become a hub for authentic Southern comfort food.

Drive-Through Service Debuts

For the first time in Wichita, Sam’s Southern Eatery will introduce a drive-through option. Although this location is smaller than its counterparts, Emanuel Ashiedu sees it as an opportunity to deliver faster service without compromising quality. The drive-through menu will feature fan favorites like:

• Golden Fried Catfish

• Jumbo Fried Shrimp

• Signature Po' Boy Sandwiches

Dine-in customers will still enjoy the full menu with even more flavorful options.

Since its founding in 2008 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Sam’s Southern Eatery has become renowned for its commitment to quality and authenticity. The menu offers an impressive variety of Southern delights, including:

Their first Wichita location opened in early 2024 at the former DeFazio’s space near 29th and Amidon. Later in the year, they added a second location at 6600 W. Central, both quickly gaining popularity.

More Growth on the Horizon

The East Wichita location won’t be the last. Emanuel Ashiedu has set his sights on the south side of Wichita for another drive-through restaurant. This growth reflects the increasing demand for Sam’s Southern Eatery’s delicious offerings and top-notch service.
