SLBC: Hydraulic robot hits obstruction

Various agencies involved in the rescue operation and locating the missing persons in the Shalimar Left Bank Canal (SLBC) continued their efforts on Thursday. The hydraulic robots sent inside the tunnel on Wednesday could not go beyond a certain point, and experts are rectifying the problems.

About 60 workers belonging to the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) are continuously removing silt at the D1 location identified by the Geological Survey of India (GSI). Cadaver dogs were again sent inside the tunnel on Thursday to trace the missing persons. The removal of the tier one portion of the tunnel boring machine (TBM) has been completed, and the cut parts are being taken outside the tunnel, officials said.
