Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the 8th consecutive Union Budget at a record level. For the first time in the country’s history, the Union Budget crossed the Rs. 50 lakh crore mark. Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Union Budget for the year 2025-26 in Parliament, which stands at Rs. 50,65,345 crore. This time, the revenue deficit is Rs. 5.23 lakh crore, and the fiscal deficit is Rs. 15.68 lakh crore. The capital expenditure for 2025-26 is Rs. 11.2 lakh crore, while the gross tax revenue is Rs. 42.7 lakh crore, Nirmala explained. Corporate tax collections stand at Rs. 10.82 lakh crore, GST cess collections at Rs. 1.67 lakh crore, and excise tax collections at Rs. 3.17 lakh crore. In this fiscal year, the central government is expected to borrow Rs. 15.82 lakh crore from the market.
